1.选择好专业还是好大学
Every student will be faced with the same question when he passes the College Entrance Examination: should he choose a good major or a good university? Different people will offer different answers.
Some students give priority to a good major. What they cherish is a specialty they like most. To their mind, whether or not the university is famous doesn’t matter--so long as he works hard, he can learn well in any university, and a bright future is awaiting him.
Other students pay more attention to the fame and quality of the universities. They attach great importance to the university because the environment is vital to the making of an excellent person and is the symbol of good job prospects. How can you have a wide vision and a broad horizon if you receive your education at a small college?
Frankly, the best choice is a good major at a good university. We can only get such a chance after making great efforts. If we cannot obtain both, the first thing to consider is a good major itself.
2.环境保护
Protection of Environment
There are still many problems of environmental protection in recent years. One o the most serious problems is the serious pollution of air, water and soil. The polluted air does great harm to people’s health. The polluted water causes diseases and death. What’s more, vegetation has been greatly reduced with rapid growth of modern cities.
To protect the environment, governments of many countries have done a lot. Legislative steps have been introduced to control air pollution, to protect the forest and sea resources and to stop any environmental pollution. Therefore, governments are playing the most important role in the environment protection today.
In my opinion, to protect environment, the government must take even more concrete measures. First, it should let people fully realize the importance of environment protection through education. Second, much more efforts should be made to put the population. Finally’ those who destroy the environment intentionally should be severely punished. We should let them know that destroying environment means destroying mankind themselves.
3.汽车与空气污染
Cars and Air Pollution
Too many cars have created a lot of serious problems in our world. Besides congestion，accidents and fast fuel consumption，cars are responsible for a good part of air pollution in big cities. All the time，they are pumping huge amounts of waste gases into the atmosphere. These gases are very harmful，causing disease and even death. Last winter，car fumes formed heavy smog over Beijing，making the sky gloomy for weeks and deteriorating people“s health.
One possible solution is to design and develop clean cars and clean fuels. In Tsinghua University，campus buses are driven by electricity. In Beijing some of the public buses begin to run on natural gas，which does not give off as much carbon dioxide as the petrol. But it may take decades for the new models of clean cars to completely replace the traditional ones.
Another solution is to develop modern public transportation systems and restrict the use of private cars. If the price of petrol rises constantly and the public vehicles are efficient and convenient enough，most people will not private cars. And the total number of cars in big cities will reduce greatly. On the whole，the elimination of air pollution needs the co-efforts from the government，the public and the environments. This problem will be solved only with the help of science and technology.
4.关于机会
On Opportunity
It seems that the fame of outstanding figures is due to some stroke of luck. Throughout history， some famous people always have admired opportunities that lead to success. In daily life， some “lucky dogs”（幸运儿） never lack chances in their turning points. In fact， opportunities may come to everyone now and then.
However， it is a pity that most people fail to seize opportunitiesg Why ⅡOpportunities “prefer” those who are prepared to grab. Without a ready mind， admired opportunities may slip through one’s fingers.
In my view， without diligence， willpower and continual efforts， opportunities are groundless talk. To be qualified for success， people should be equipped with necessary skills， rich experience and abundant knowledge besides numerous unusual qualities （素质）。 In a word， opportunities are only catalyst （催化剂） of success， but not precondition （先决条件） of success.
5.低碳生活
In recent years, due to the country to promote low-carbon living, now the city has many people usually go out no more cars, but with the bike, and some people just walk.
Also, in the summer, people a few years ago still use air conditioning. Later, some people learn the low carbon life, no longer open air conditioning, but with less power of the electric fan, now, people have even the fans are no longer in use, but with the fan.
